Getting started

This is my new weight loss blog. I found out last year that I have/had thyroid cancer. I kind of used it as an excuse to eat my way through the stress. I gained 30 pounds. Not fun! Now I need to lose weight, so here is my blog to keep track of myself. I have a hard time being motivated, so I'm hoping that this will be my new weight loss journal. I started my new plan last week on January 31. I don't have a certain number in mind, but I'm going to lose weight, dang it!

The first thing I've decided will help motivate me is money! I withdrew 65 one-dollar bills on January 31st. If I exercise five times a week, I get to keep the money. For every day that I don't exercise, I have to give $1 to my husband to spend on something frivolous. The money that I get for exercising will go to something frivolous that I want! You have to understand that I'm a huge tight wad. I don't spend money on myself. But I really feel that this is going to help. 65 will cover January 31st to April 29th. After that I'll have to come up with a new motivator. Maybe I'll increase it to $2 per day.

My second plan is to eat more fruits and vegetables. I went to the dollar store and bought 5 plastic containers. Each Sunday night I cut up a week's worth of vegetables to eat. Every day I put a container in my lunch box for work. I'm on day 6, and I have loved eating vegetables.

I like to think that I'm going to keep track of calories on this blog too. Maybe I'll do that or I'll just write what I've eaten. That way I can look at it and cut back if I need to.

Anyway, here's to losing it my way. I'm sure this blog will be kind of boring, but I'm going to do it anyway!
